Dipont High School Year Abroad

As one of China's largest providers of high school year abroad programmes, Dipont has helped more than 1000 secondary students study at high school level abroad. Dipont recruits and selects students in many of China's major provinces. In each area, we work with the provincial or city educational bureau to advertise and promote programmes in leading public high schools. Dipont registers the interested participants, administers English language testing (SLEP), conducts interviews and organises selection committees with local schools to select programme participants.

Dipont is an associate international member of the US-based Council on Standards for International Educational Travel (CSIET), a not-for-profit organisation that identifies reputable international youth exchange programmes that provide meaningful and safe international exchange experiences.

Dipont Programmes for Gifted Students

Dipont offers special programmes for high achieving learners. Gifted and talented enrichment programmes combine advanced courses with cultural, social, and recreational opportunities, and provide gifted students with academic challenges designed to fit their abilities and interests. Through their studies and daily life, students have the opportunity to make friends with others who share similar abilities and interests.

Dipont offers academically talented Chinese students the opportunity to attend the Summer Institute for the Gifted (SIG) in the United States. Founded in 1984, the SIG programme only accepts US students from the top five percent of their class. The other twenty percent of students are from the rest of the world and have to pass a strict examination and selection process. The SIG Program operates in July and August. Different from other summer programmes, and based in well-equipped top American university campuses, it provides academically advanced students with an outstanding and challenging educational experience. SIG campuses include: Amherst College, Bryn Mawr College, Emory University, Princeton University, University of California Berkeley, University of Chicago, UCLA, University of Texas at Austin, and Vassar College. When applying for universities in the US, students often refer to their SIG experience on their resume as a valuable learning and personal development experience.

Dipont Short-term Educational Camps

Many Chinese students look forward to the opportunity to go overseas to enhance their English, enjoy sight-seeing and experience full immersion of everyday life in a typical community or family. Dipont camps are designed to be educational, safe and most importantly – fun! Summer Camps start from July every year, and last for three to four weeks depending on the schedule and itinerary.

Students travel to the US, UK or other host countries and are hosted by local families, attend class to study English and participate in a range of activities to get a general taste of life abroad. Each student is placed in a suitable language class according to their English level. Courses are taught in small groups and the ratio of teacher-students is no higher than 1:15. Classes are enriched by plenty of activities and outings organised by the school. Upon completion of the English course, students will have one to two weeks to travel around the country, visiting well-known attractions. In the US, these include: New York City (Statue of Liberty and Times Square), Washington DC (White House, Washington Monument), Los Angeles (Disneyland and Universal Studios), and/or Boston (MIT and Harvard Universities).

Dipont Au Pair Programme

There are many outstanding opportunities to learn from an educational exchange programme. One of the most innovative programs offered by Dipont is the Au Pair Programme. Female university or college students age 18-26 are eligible to apply to be an au pair and live with an American family to help care for the children and bring an international voice to the household. Au pairs receive a living allowance averaging $10-15,000 per year, are given opportunities to study at local educational institutions and to travel within the country.

The Au Pair programme is very popular with European college students and more than one million young women have taken this opportunity to live and learn abroad. Currently, Chinese au pairs are very welcome in the US and American families recognise the important cultural exchange between China and USA and the need for a broader, deeper and more common understanding. Dipont establishes a strict selection process to choose the most qualified candidates and provides extensive support for candidates before and during the programme.

Dipont Work and Travel Program

In addition to the Au Pair Programme, Dipont also offers cultural exchange experiences for college and university level students. The Work and Travel Programme is an outstanding choice for Chinese students in the hospitality (tourism or hotel management) sectors. With the help of Dipont, participants have the opportunity to travel to the US and receive 'on the job' training. Participants work in actual jobs, earn a living allowance and travel throughout the US. Dipont works with Chinese educational institutions to offer this programme to eligible students. Dipont helps participants apply for valid cultural exchange visas (J-1), arrange medical and accident insurance, and assists them in finding suitable local accommodation.
